Community Food Enterprise
An award-winning social enterprise
Community Food Enterprise Is an award winning social enterprise Food Business and a registered charity that is rooted in East London whose aim is to develop a viable and sustainable food business that will provide training, capacity building and employment opportunities for residents of East London.
CFE’s mission is to work in partnership with the diverse communities of East London, and nationally with organisations that do similar work as us, to ensure that everyone in our community has the right not just to food, but the right food. CFE believes that access to food is not an end in itself, but rather the first practical step on a pathway to alleviating many of the root causes of food poverty. The food we consume should be safe, nutritious, affordable, accessible, and culturally acceptable.
No more left-overs
We’re working with Community Food Enterprise to ensure that left-over food finds a good home. CFE work with numerous community projects, including homeless shelters and soup kitchens, to ensure that healthy and nutritious food reaches people who need it the most. As a result of the events we host, we regularly donate surplus food to vulnerable people living on our doorstep.
“ExCeL London have been a key supporter of CFE. Staff at ExCeL have rallied round to collect tinned food when we were short of produce. At Christmas we received toys to give out to children who otherwise would not receive any gifts. More recently the venue has donated been surplus food which has enabled us to feed additional members of our community. We are thankful for ExCeL’s support.”
Eric Samuels, Community Food Enterprise
“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone ExCeL for all the toys that were distributed to us last Christmas through Community Food Enterprise. It brought smiles to so many children’s faces, whose parents would never be able to afford to treat their children at Christmas.”
Humera Ali, Refugee & Migrant Service Worker, Refugee and Migrant Project
“All the donations that we receive are gratefully appreciated and used by the local community who rely on our centre as a food bank. Everything we receive is used. So, thank you for the support you give us with the donations.”
